LOCATION: MALLESHWARAM
CONCEPT: Reliving Royal Indian Architecture
AIM: To create poetries with sustainable and healthy living. Earthy, but more than anything else a home away from home in every way possible.

Introduction

Apartment 243 exemplifies the art of changing a 15-year-old space that combines classic appeal with ecological living. This premium 3BHK apartment in Malleshwaram is inspired by the magnificence of Rajasthani palaces as well as the minimalist beauty of Southern India. Our approach, which is based on our commitment to Mother Nature, prioritizes space, light, ventilation and aesthetics.

Concept and Aim

The main idea behind Apartment 243 is to design a living space that evokes the grandeur of royal Indian architecture while encouraging sustainable and healthy living. Our goal is to design a home that feels like a “home away from home” in every way: earthy, environmentally friendly and highly comfortable. The proposal blends classic and contemporary architectural elements, with a focus on material reuse and recycling, as well as the removal of toxins from the living environment.

Plan Layout

Apartment 243 is designed around three fundamental elements: air, light and water. Air and light are naturally blended into the area by smart design, ensuring adequate ventilation and natural illumination. The water element has been incorporated as a key design element, based on the vastu shastra principles it helps to generate pleasant vibes and maintain humidity. also incorporates Vastu Shastra principles. This blend of Rajasthani grandeur with Dravidian simplicity helped strike a perfect equilibrium without sacrificing aesthetics or utility.

Living Room

Apartment 243’s living room extends onto a creative studio inspired by the vivid colors of peacock. The area contains Chettinad-style handmade healing green oxide flooring with yellow patterns that add to the overall earthy mood. Leaf-shaped wooden barriers create a sense of privacy, while reclaimed wood cabinetry and exquisite dining and seating areas highlight sustainability and sophistication.

Creative Studio

The creative studio exemplifies careful design. Sliding glass doors and Indian linen with traditional block printing lend humor and charm. The studio itself has a traditional feel, with cabinets coated in natural banana fiber panels handmade by Indian tribes. The delicate peacock feather etchings accentuate the space’s central motif while stressing the use of natural and sustainable materials.

Master Bedroom

The main bedroom’s walls are completed with rustic-looking mud lime plaster, reminiscent of the walls of Rajasthani havelis. This finish complements the modest Chettinad flooring, resulting in a seamless connection between north and south Indian architectural components. The teak wood bed, built for aesthetics and easy maintenance, takes center stage, accented with linen sheets that complete the look. Handmade tiles that match the artificial ceiling guarantee that the theme is constant throughout the room. An enclosed balcony adjacent to the bedroom gives a peaceful refuge, with relaxing pastel tones of green against exotic swaying forests.

Kids’ Room

The children’s room is meant to be colorful and useful without departing from the overall theme. Ingeniously placed furniture and utilities free up the center of the space for play. The highlight is a sundial interactive wall with a clock, chalkboard, soft board and idea board, which serves as both a useful and entertaining aspect for youngsters. Hexagonal cladding improves the space’s functional and visual appeal.

Kitchen

The kitchen in Apartment 243 mixes classic style with modern practicality. Finely polished Kota flooring and traditionally crafted cabinets in soothing tan brown create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The open kitchen is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, using 100% recycled water from a hydrogenated system rather than reverse osmosis, demonstrating our dedication to sustainability.

Toilet and Powder Rooms

The tranquil and melodic style of the bathroom complements the entire tone of the residence. The washroom is encased with old Indian copper stone and depicts a gorgeous scene of a bird satisfying its thirst in an oasis, as seen via the mirror and bamboo frame. The water spout, suggestive of a spring located in the Western Ghats, provides a natural element to the room. The primary goal of brilliance extends into the connected toilet, which features geometric designs on natural stones, rafters in the same color scheme and a bulb-shaped mirror. The bathroom walls wrapped in semi polished Jaisalmer stone is in perfect contrast with the black slate flooring and highlights typical colorful patterns on the yellow stone. A stone wash basin with delicate ethnic design, brass accessories and a bamboo-framed mirror round out the space’s royal Indian theme.

 Unique Features

One of the most notable characteristics of Apartment 243 is the utilization of a 150-year-old Chettinad-style wooden carved door, which adds a sense of  elegance. The plastering technique used is an ancient Rajasthani approach that incorporates mud, lime and burned brick, resurrecting the traditional artistry of Rajasthani palaces.

Conclusion

Apartment 243 is a landmark property that seamlessly combines design and space with environmentally friendly aspects. It maximizes natural lighting and ventilation, conserves natural resources using alternative renewable and recyclable solutions and creates architecture that speaks for itself. This project is a visual fantasy and is well deserving of accolades and recognition for its artistic style of construction while also ensuring that it lowers the overall carbon impact.
