Forest House
The Forest House is an innovative design concept for the rural parts of the country, providing sustainable, yet affordable residences to rural dwellers. By incorporating the principles of Vastu and harnessing the benefits of its surrounding nature, the Forest House aspires to create a healthy habitat for its residents.
Positioned to face the North, the Forest House blocks the heat generated through the day in the south-west direction, while inviting maximum natural light into homes. The beautiful sit-out over the natural water body, the living and dining areas and the elevated bedroom on the first floor all provide a breathtaking view of the lush green forest area that surrounds the house. The ground floor includes a charming courtyard that serves as a dining space during the summer months.
Not only is the house visually striking, but is deeply rooted in sustainable principles. The primary construction materials for the house are earth, stone, bamboo and rubber wood, with the main structure designed as a vault made from handmade interlocking stabilized mud-blocks crafted on-site using basic tools, eliminating the need for foreign materials such as steel, cement, etc. Moreover, the house is powered by solar energy and utilizes passive cooling strategies through staggered windows, a central courtyard and natural pools to enhance energy efficiency and comfort.
