Designed to meet Swedish standards while tailored specifically for Indian conditions, the Volvo office space cum service center in Chhattisgarh served as a prototype model for several subsequent Volvo workshops developed across India. Spanning across approximately 2 acres, the project was executed within a challenging timespan of 12-13 months. The Volvo office cum service center is located in a remote area, isolated from urban dwellings. The construction material was sourced from the capital city of Raipur. The project provided labor opportunities for the local community, who were given training to equip them with the necessary skills for construction. The office space includes a reception, conference, work area, dining space and the manager’s cabin. The workshop includes amenities such as driver’s washrooms and facilities. The center also includes truck parking and washing areas, as well as an Effluents Treatment Plant (ETP) for wastewater treatment. Surrounded by an extensive green cover, this center maximizes the use of passive cooling techniques and Vastu principles.
